ABSTRACT

Data mining is a type of database analysis used for discovering meaningful patterns or relationships in a large volume of data. The analysis uses advanced statistical methods such as cluster analysis and anomaly detection. A major goal of data mining is to discover previously unknown relationships among the data, especially when the data come from different databases. The overall goal of the data-mining process is to extract information from a data set and transform it into an understandable structure.
