ABSTRACT
The frequency domain describes a signal with respect to the frequencies and amplitudes of the sinusoidal partials of which it is composed. A range of techniques for examining the tonal characteristics of a sound are associated with frequency domain analysis, as will be described later in this chapter. These techniques help to inform the development of modification and synthesis processes.
