ABSTRACT
Audio synthesis is the generation of sound from scratch. Many of the elements associated with synthesis (such as gain control, mixing, filtering, mapping, and delays) have been seen previously in chapters concerned with the modification of sound. In addition, synthesizers also incorporate significant use of oscillators and envelope generators that are driven by a control input such as a keyboard, as described later in this chapter.
