ABSTRACT

It is common for people who work in sustainability to measure progress toward sustainability goals by developing and using indicator reports or similar tools for measuring. People spend time considering and developing a broad range of goals and be clear about ultimate goals before identifying indicators to make it more likely that the right things get measured. The Global Reporting Initiative is the most widely used sustainability reporting framework worldwide. It provides detailed guidelines for measuring and reporting on environmental, economic, and social dimensions of an organization's activities. Calculating footprints allows us to compare human demand to the biosphere's carrying capacity. An eco-label on a product that tells consumers that the product provides environmental or social benefit.
