ABSTRACT
Three years ago, Eliseo’s parents left for Mexico to care for a sick relative, and he and his siblings moved into a trailer with his aunt and cousins in Mulberry, Florida. Over the years, Eliseo has watched the family struggle to care for eight children but, as he said, “I’m using my situation to push me to greater things.” Indeed, Eliseo’s grit and motivation have helped him earn all As since joining the CFES Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) program as a sixth grader two years ago.
