ABSTRACT

The impact that good educational practice can have on children and families is invaluable. I hope I have demonstrated that schools have a crucial role to play in developing positive mental health and well-being in children, in turn preventing further difficulties in adult life and problems for society as a whole. Our prisons and mental health systems have a large percentage of adults who had difficult early experiences as children that they have carried into their adult lives. We have a responsibility as a society to break the perpetuation of that cycle by providing opportunities for the next generation of young people to have experiences that promote positive mental health and emotional well-being.
