ABSTRACT
Squares afford a sociability of public life. They offer us a place to celebrate, protest, mourn and play. They can host small events for locals and welcome international visitors to major occasions. The art of living in a twenty-first-century city which has public squares includes engaging with people who come from a range of ethnic, cultural, socioeconomic and religious backgrounds. People have different value sets and go about their lives in varying ways.
