ABSTRACT

The general fact is that a state of mutual suspicion and fear prevails between Germany and the Powers of the Triple Entente is established here, next to consider the positions and purposes of the various states involves. Great Britain is the head of an Empire, in point of territory and population. This Empire acquires by trade and settlement which proceed by the military force. British imperialism has not endangered but guaranteed the independence of the European States. Further, Great Britain is so large that one can hardly extend it without danger of being unable to administer and protect. Germany, since 1898, for the first time in her history becomes a world-power. The growth of German sea-power drive one more and more to rely upon the Entente in case it is necessary for one to defend one selves which inevitably from the logic of the position gives the European anarchy.
