ABSTRACT
What is Islam? We may begin by saying that Islam is the religion of those people who have for some fourteen centuries followed the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad. Today they number more than one-and-a-half billion, living throughout the world but concentrated particularly in the swath of lands stretching from Morocco eastward to Indonesia and from Central Asia southward to sub-Saharan Africa.
