ABSTRACT
Meema, the pet name her grandchildren and great grandchildren call her, turned 89 last year. She stands about 5 feet 1 inch. She grew up in urban New Jersey and has been widowed for 40 years. She has the straight-at-you style of someone from that part of the world. And no one would place her accent south of Newark. She’s free with advice and free to tell you she
doesn’t like something if she doesn’t. A photo taken of Meema at a grandson’s wedding a
few years ago shows her sitting in the front row.
