ABSTRACT

Teachers are quick to recount both good and bad experiences in their classrooms. Some classes are remembered as particularly vibrant. These experiences make teachers feel good about themselves and what they do. Then there are those classes teachers recall as problematic. Students were disruptive, arrived late to class, engaged in unrelated activities during lecture, and appeared unresponsive and indifferent. With these experiences, even the most devoted teachers can become discouraged and disheartened about what they do.
