ABSTRACT

We conclude with a discussion of the present state of American psychology as it relates to diversity. While significant strides have been made over the last two decades, psychology will need to continue addressing the issue of low representation of ethnic minority groups within its professional ranks. Given the increasingly diverse population in the United States, undergraduate-and graduate-level programs will need to take an active role in recruiting more individuals from minority groups and to enhance our awareness of the need to be culturally sensitive in all areas of psychological practice, in both clinical and research settings.
