We saw in Chapter 8 an overview of the physiological differences between men and women, and the fact that women’s bodies are designed to have babies and men’s bodies are not. This means the reproductive life course of women is much more varied than the reproductive life course of men and has several distinct stages, each with its own evolutionary rationale.
