ABSTRACT

Creativity, a strength that comes from within, involves making or building something. The power of imagination allows seeing in unconventional ways and finding different ways to solve problems. Based on studies about creativity from China, it useful to emphasize Kaufman and Beghetto's frame, so it receives more attention than Csikszentmihalyi's, which is used as a counterpoint in particular cases. This chapter provides more detail about the creativity frames and connects them with the literature in art and aesthetics. Chinese students would be able to interpret the model by resonating with its types and would be able to brainstorm ways to usefully apply it. Aiming to enrich about creativity in China, it was necessary to extend data collection to the United States. The chapter focuses on a pedagogical version of the 4-C creativity model as a strategy for eliciting creative engagement from Chinese preservice teachers.
