ABSTRACT

There are three key elements that can be maximized to make data use easy and accurate: climate, data users, and data tools. Many educators do not ask for more than a data system that gives all educators access to data, when there is so much more their data systems could do to actively help educators make easy, good use of data. However, with educators making so many data analysis errors even in districts known for strong data PD, staff, and culture, traditional data analysis interventions are clearly not enough. Educators are not the only stakeholders who use education data. Education data is inherently complex. Pretending it is simple is as foolish as only looking at one of a puzzle's many pieces to conclude the puzzle's meaning. Many types of people need to understand the education data they view.
