ABSTRACT

Improved package/display within a data system and its reports contributes to easier data system use, easier data use, and more accurate data use. To have good over-the-counter data (OTCD) that is thus easy for educators to use, just as with good over-the-counter medicine, the package/display of the contents must establish and maintain credibility. Fortunately, some of the hurdles that stood in the way of educators' technology use are dissolving with time. For example, teachers indicated overwhelming support for using technology to improve learning, and 85 percent of teachers reported daily use of technology to support teaching. Time also brings improvement in the value educators assign to data and its analysis. A large portion of educators are already intimidated by data. Many teachers and administrators do not know fundamental analysis concepts, and 70 percent have never taken a college or postgraduate course in educational measurement.
