ABSTRACT

This chapter presents the results of the study on the debates on wars and humanitarian military interventions in Austria, France, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and the USA. The sequence charts of 16 years of media coverage on wars and interventions in general as well as on humanitarian military interventions is considered. The daily numbers of newspaper pages, articles printed, the length of a typical article and so on vary among newspapers and countries.US-American and British newspapers published the highest quantity of articles on wars and humanitarian military interventions. Even the aggregated numbers of all UN events do not correlate with the level of coverage of humanitarian military interventions as just wars. Stronger correlations, though still only at a medium level, can be observed with regard to NATO interventions in most of the countries under study.
