ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts of the concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book aims to identify therapy that is theoretically sound, takes the specific family types into account, and involves common factors of outcome success. Certainly, all models shared one common thread; the complexity of these families must be understood by the families themselves. The book provides some of the more important evidence-based intervention considerations for families. Within a stepfamily, there are multiple subsystems. Parent education, service coordination, crisis intervention, family support, and case management are all necessary. Families have specific communication patterns. The contemporary family, with its complexity and structural differences, provides the perfect laboratory to examine how this collaboration provides information that assists these families as they negotiate the world and proceed to live happy and healthy existences. The book provides some examples of intervention techniques that resulted from collaborations and discusses some of the clinical highlights garnered.
