ABSTRACT

MNEs face significant challenges in undertaking business across multiple foreign locations. They are under pressure to understand the unique needs of local customers, develop the right products or services to address those needs and deliver them across various locations in the world. In doing so, they mobilize and leverage needed resources and orchestrate the activities locally as well as globally. Thus, MNEs try to build and leverage a set of ‘global capabilities’ to manage their international operations – an additional challenge compared to firms operating only in the domestic markets.
