ABSTRACT

In an age where piracy, intellectual property theft, and identity theft are rampant, it is all the more important for all writers to protect their material. Copyright is the best protection for writers and intellectual property. For the purpose of establishing evidence that screenwriter is the author of particular screenplay, the Writers Guild of America (WGA) offers service through which screenplays may be registered. The Library of Congress formally registers writer screenplay and issue a copyright certificate. In film business, chain of title is the documentation that establishes the exclusive, irrefutable rights in and to the material upon which a screenplay and resulting movie are based. A single purpose corporation was formed under the laws of Canada, expressly for the purpose of the production of the film Mongolian Death Worm, with the intent of using both foreign and domestic pre-sale contracts, as well as Canadian and British Columbian subsidies as total required to meet the strike price for the film.
