Clinical Application book
While much of the methodology of clinical implementation for the model presented in this book is drawn from Pinsof ’s (1995, 2005) integrative problem-centered therapy, other aspects are developed in particular for work with anorexia nervosa in men and boys. After a brief overview of negative explanation, which is fundamental to the approach described here, we lay out four therapeutic orientations and three implementation contexts. In addition, we explain the rationale behind the model’s treatment sequence, a prescribed way of moving through therapeutic orientations and contexts from superficial to deep levels of constraint in the problem-maintenance space. Finally, we bring these ideas to life through reference to a complex clinical case.
