ABSTRACT
In earlier chapters we have considered how individuals develop cognitively. Part of cognitive development is the increasing capacity for individuals to manipulate and remember information. In this chapter we focus on information processing theory as a model for explaining cognition and human learning. We will explore the computer as an analogy for the learning process by examining the way in which information is attended to, encoded, processed, stored, and retrieved.
