ABSTRACT

This chapter helps artists to think about acting from a different point of view. Whatever artists’ daily practice and perspective looks like now, they will be comforted to know that there are actors who approach their careers entirely differently. These approaches may or may not look appealing to artists, but just knowing they exist can help to nudge them off the rung where they're currently living. Caden Manson and Jemma Nelson describe their work as aggressively attacking "the boundaries of performance through experimentation with structure, medium, and process." Experimentation defines the company, which experiments not only on stage to create a new language that translates actors' contemporary lives but also off stage to promote and communicate about their work. Big Art Group defines Real-Time Film as a technique "of live projection and split second-choreography" where the actors perform actions that are simultaneously projected onto screens.
