ABSTRACT
Curiously, it was only in the inter-war period, with the infanticide problem as familiar to the Victorians fading fast, that Parliament finally got round to completing changes in the law which infant life protection campaigners had urged for over sixty years; it is almost as though the legislature was simply writing a final address to a social problem that was well on the way to solving itself.
