ABSTRACT

Although this is not a particularly difficult practice, it is one that is absolutely essential to the success of any strategies devised. If you take as a general rule that if it’s not written down, it’s not going to happen, writing it down effectively becomes doubly important. This chapter is, however, one of the shortest in the whole book for the very simple reason that to be effective, the Behaviour Support Plan (BSP) needs to be a very short document. I would highly recommend that this document is never, as a matter of basic principle, longer than one page of typed A4. The longer the document:

the more likely people are to waffle when writing it;

the more likely people are to put in unnecessary and trivial details;

the less likely people are to read it.
