ABSTRACT

After gathering evidence about the validity of emotional intelligence (EI) that made me feel more comfortable studying the construct further, I began to think about other possible implications of EI. One obvious question is whether the level of EI can be raised by training. This is also very relevant to the area of human resource management. On top of selecting people with adequate abilities, a common approach in human resource management is to train the employees so that they can develop the necessary abilities. To me, this is a very logical question to answer. If EI is trainable, it has greater value to my area of expertise.
