ABSTRACT

In the college student leadership development journey there are two things that stand out: (1) people need to seek challenging experiences rich in opportunities for leadership learning, development, and growth; and (2) people need to figure out the learnings from those experiences. This chapter helps people to do this in three ways. It analyzes their past key events to determine the messages that people have learned about leadership, who he/she are as a leader, and what skills and knowledge they have learned up to this point. The chapter analyzes the challenging experiences, people, and coursework in current situation for learning opportunities, and if necessary, considers ways to enrich people's current experiences. Finally, it encourages to take personal control of people's ongoing leadership learning by setting goals and initiating plans for their own leadership development during college or in the next few years.
