ABSTRACT
The topic of superheroes creates a fantasy world for children to explore. One needs to create a superhero, considering any superpowers, special vehicles, weapons or other tricks they may have up their sleeve. The topic of superheroes lends itself to the creation of a text narrative as well as through the more traditional comic strip format. Familiar apps such as Book Creator or Comic Life are used to make a comic about a superhero. Both these apps allow the user to create original comic strips, as well as being able to personalise the template through the insertion of speech bubbles, text and onomatopoeic words, all of which can be applied directly within the app. Superheroes need a distinctive costume and objects within their imaginary world. The Foldify app allows the user to select a generic template that can then be painted and customised. Use of Promethean's ClassFlow is explored to encourage task collaboration.
