ABSTRACT
In this final chapter, we turn to implications of thinking about horses as social actors. We identify several themes in the book, such as scaffolding, performativity and instability, which pose questions for how we understand human-horse relationships. In particular, thinking about horses as social actors poses ethical questions – not only for how we interact with horses, but also for our research studies. The book concludes by considering how we can make our studies – and our everyday practices – more accountable to horses as social agents.
