ABSTRACT

This chapter addresses what does 'unfinished-business syndrome' mean? It also addresses what are unexplained symptoms, sensory triggers, unfinished life experiences, and the elements of complaint maintaining coping with loss and grief support? The chapter examines what is the difference between unfinished business syndrome (UBS) type 1 and UBS type 2? It elaborates on the unprocessed loss of a parent at a young age which is considered to be a risk factor of UBS. New in UBS is the way it explicitly names the gestalt of unaddressed life events, unexplained complaints, trigger-effect and multiplier-effect. The UBS is the cohesive phenomenon of these four characteristics. Unexplained complaints are evident when those complaints was referred to as such by the involved caseworker and tells the client that there is no known cause for these medical, psychological or relationship/work related complaints. The chronic processes of unhealthy stress are clarified well through the use of the thermostat process in a central heating system.
