ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the worries many parents have about the digital world. There are indeed concerns and even threats our children can encounter when using digital technology. There are dangers but also wonders out with care and attention, the digital world can be a revelation. One was that digital technology was a distraction that it came between them and their children and takes up too much time at home. Media literacy means you can recognise what is real and unreal, appropriate and not appropriate and draw boundaries. Routines give one structure and stability and often help one and their family in so many ways. Bed time are especially key times when one is trying to establish a digital strategy. Cyberbullying and pornography, access to harmful content, the possibility of being groomed, and the temptation for a digitally skilled young person a geek to show off their expertise by hacking are perhaps the most worrying aspects of internet use.
