ABSTRACT

In Chapter 3 we saw what leaders can do to foster improvement, innovation and change; in the next chapter we look specifically at how to create and sustain effective teams and team working and in Chapter 7 we will look at communicating effectively. All these are relevant to getting the best out of people, but there is one aspect which is crucial and that is to understand what it is that enables people to perform their role effectively. So in this chapter we will focus on what you can do, as an effective leader, to motivate people and inspire them to perform to the best of their abilities.
