ABSTRACT
My link with France was not broken by the war. As soon as letters between the two countries were once more possible Professor Wallon wrote to me. I had heard that he had been one of the leading figures in the Resistance at French Universities and had become a Minister in the Government after the liberation. He did not mention this in his letters; he spoke only of the research work done at the École des Hautes Études and asked about the progress of my investigations. He invited me to go to Paris as soon as I could obtain a British passport. He wanted to arrange a lecture on my work at the École des Hautes Études, and he also suggested that we should discuss an article he wanted me to write for L'Enfance, a monthly journal of psychology edited by him.
