ABSTRACT

Today’s college and career readiness standards require teachers at all levels to provide authentic contextual experiences regularly for their students. At all levels, students are challenged when engaging in contextually based scenarios that go beyond the basic procedure. Also, many teachers struggle knowing what strategies to incorporate that move the learner and the learning forward. Teachers often do not have the tools necessary to help students make sense of these more rigorous experiences. This section focuses on tools that address the following three challenges:

1. Students’ lack of the skills needed to engage successfully in a rigorous contextual scenario.
