ABSTRACT

Building on the foundation presented in the two previous chapters, this section focuses on creating balance, width, and depth within a professional-quality mix. After a thorough treatment of studio setup, including discussions of acoustic treatment, monitor selection, and speaker placement, the chapter moves to an overview of effects processing. Topics in this portion include equalization, compression, gating, reverb, delay, and modulation effects. You will also be exposed to advanced mixing techniques such as orchestral panning, complementary equalization, and side chaining.
