ABSTRACT

If we are now to investigate everyday life as, on the one hand, the territory par excellence for the appropriation of species-essential objectivation ‘in itself, and, on the other hand, as the basis for species-essential objectivation ‘for itself, we must first of all explain the use of these two categories. Of course, this is not the place for an exhaustive discussion of the philosophical concepts of ‘being-in-itself’, ‘being-for-itself’ and ‘being-for-us’; and we shall say no more about them than is necessary for an understanding of the specific nature of objectivations.
