Water has always been a key factor in the character, viability and sustainability of South Asia’s ecosystems. Today it is one of the most important variables in ensuring sustainable futures. Water is a critical resource for the future of all South Asian countries. India alone has been estimated to use more than 7760 km3 of fresh water a year. At the same time it is a significant component in disputes, from the local to the international scale.
