Conclusions

It is claimed that the Caliph Mu'awiya's dying injunction to his son Yazid was that, in order to keep the people of Iraq quiet, it was essential to give them a new governor every time they wanted one, however frequently. This book should have shown that such advice still would have been of relevance to Iraq during the period under study.
