ABSTRACT
This chapter explains about children learn how to hunt for, collect and observe invertebrates in the school grounds. When children find an invertebrate, they gently sweep it into the container using the paintbrush and then can either observe it in the container or gently move it to a larger container or a two-way viewer. Leaf litter is also a micro habitat and children should find a range of invertebrates if they gently collect handfuls of dead leaves and twigs and put them in a soil sieve with a large-sized mesh. Apps should not replace the knowledgeable adult who can enthuse and inspire children to observe and remember invertebrate names and interesting information or the use of classification keys. The idea is that children use an app independently to identify the invertebrates that they find -for example, the OPAL Bugs Count app from the Natural History Museum.
