ABSTRACT
The second context in which you will find a second-inversion triad is the cadential 64, which is an embellishment of V at the cadence. A typical voice leading for this 64 chord is shown in the secondto-last bar of Example 5.2. Because the analysis of this chord differs so much from school to school the cadential 64 will be analyzed using figured bass but without a Roman numeral. Ask your teacher for their preferred label.
