ABSTRACT
The 1960s ushered in a time of enormous experimentation in the staging of live performances. Elements of theater, dance, film, and music were often combined to create innovative and unexpected performance situations. New media technologies and especially electronic music were often at the heart of such performance art, happenings, and counterculture gatherings.
