ABSTRACT
There are few areas where there is so much confusion and mythology in the conservation and maintenance of architectural ironwork as in relation to corrosion. The process and environmental conditions which induce or accelerate such decay are however of fundamental importance and should greatly inform our approach, understanding and decision making process.
