ABSTRACT

Chapter 2 looks at a brief definition of coaching and how this differs from counselling or psychotherapy. The Masteries of the main international Coaching Professional Bodies is considered in detail and it also examines the journeys of the many therapists who have moved into the coaching space. For the therapist wishing to practice both coaching and counselling, this chapter offers advice on who to consult before offering both types of intervention. The blurring of boundaries between the two professions has led the authors to believe that coaching is a subspecialty of counselling.
