ABSTRACT

The introduction lays out the objectives and general contents of the book. It describes the included teaching techniques, how they are graded, the levels for which they are intended, and the language skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) that they target in addition to grammatical competence. Then an overview of the format of each technique is provided. Each consists of three sections: purpose, procedure, and variations. Importantly, the overarching assumptions and rationale of the included techniques are then briefly discussed and listed. The dynamic nature of the techniques is emphasized, allowing freedom and flexibility to the teacher user to add and/or modify any given technique whenever necessary to better adapt it to their personal teaching styles and students’ needs. The introduction concludes with the target audience of the book and areas where it can be used as well as words of acknowledgment.
