ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses appearance including weight and height, forms of diversity. The chapter aims to revisit family responsibility and pregnancy to supplement the sections on maternity and paternity leave. It deals with the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act, which is the newest form of employment discrimination covered under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Attractive people have been defined as "those who conform to norms for attractiveness on both mutable facets of appearance, such as dress and grooming, and relatively immutable facets, such as facial features and body weight''. Family responsibility discrimination is discrimination that occurs on the basis of employee responsibilities to care for family members, such as their children, disabled family members, and elderly parents. The Pregnancy Discrimination Act covers current, past, and potential pregnancy. The newest category under Title II of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 is called the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act of 2008.
