ABSTRACT

Diversity in organizations is increasing, and it presents many opportunities that the world's largest corporations are openly embracing. As nations and organizations become more diverse and both global diplomatic efforts and business practices advance with globalization of commerce, diversity and inclusion are more important than ever. Part of embracing diversity also means acknowledging when one has not been inclusive in the past and celebrating those who led the way toward inclusion and civil rights. Diversity can also present challenges such as differences of opinion, conflict, fear, and discrimination. The US military leadership has become more diverse as women and members of the LGBT community are being promoted to leadership positions. Perhaps one of the most visible examples of a diverse team worldwide is the United Nations. Under the leadership of Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon of South Korea, this organization brings together a coalition of many nations worldwide to advocate for peace and human rights.
