ABSTRACT

Chapter 3 deals with the commencement of laytime, starting with the three conditions that must normally be met for this to happen, the first of which is arrival at the specified destination. This is followed by consideration of the three types of voyage charters, berth charters, dock charters and port charters. The second condition is readiness to load and discharge, both physical and legal readiness. The final condition is tender of notice of readiness. After that, the charter moves on to the distinction between readiness and readiness. This is followed by a major section dealing with changes to the beginning of laytime and clauses relating thereto to end the chapter.
