ABSTRACT
Chapter 9 is the final chapter of the book and deals with frustration, what this is and the three main types of event that may prevent further performance of the charter, thus causing it to be frustrated; destruction of the ship or cargo; inordinate delay; and illegality. The chapter ends with a section on self-induced frustration and consideration of The Law Reform (Frustrated Contracts) Act 1943.
