ABSTRACT

Partnering with organizations allows for the cycling of resources beyond the organization itself. The use of partnerships for leadership development initiatives is not new, but it has become a popular vehicle in recent years to support leadership development across the United States. Long-standing national groups such as the National Association for Secondary School Principals and ASCD, as well as their state-level counterparts, frequently partner with school districts to provide varying levels of development and support in different initiatives. At the national level, the United States Department of Education (USDE) has also highlighted the critical nature of partnerships in the preparation and development of school leaders. There are a number of factors to contemplate when considering one or more leadership program partnerships. While traditionally these preparation partnerships have been with university-based leadership programs, there are several national programs that are becoming popular, including New Leaders, the New York City Leadership Academy, and TNTP.
