ABSTRACT
In this book I have attempted to present images of engagement in learning, with the hope of provoking new possibilities for action and inquiry. I have identified some themes that emerge when looking at what is the same about the stories of learning from the early primary school years, through to post-16 teaching and to the professional development of adults. These themes are:
vulnerability to change;
sharing ways of seeing;
making new distinctions;
symbolising experiences;
putting symbols to use.
